Descrip\u00adtion:<\/em> Tanithia is sent by her supe\u00adri\u00adors of the Craft and Ways to scourge the ancient forces of dark\u00adness who have a foothold in a dis\u00adtant cas\u00adtle. But not all is at is seems inside the cas\u00adtle, and dan\u00adgers await her with\u00adin and with\u00adout its walls: first, she falls under the allur\u00ading and sen\u00adsu\u00adal hyp\u00adnot\u00adic spell of the castle\u2019s evil, vam\u00adpir\u00adic enchantress; then, to make mat\u00adters worse, when she escapes, she falls into the hands of a fanat\u00adi\u00adcal witch hunter who believes her the evil force that pos\u00adsess\u00ades the cas\u00adtle. Then, to final\u00adly cleanse the cas\u00adtle, she must col\u00adlect and empow\u00ader a faith\u00adful band of war\u00adriors to help her storm the cas\u00adtle and destroy the evil fes\u00adter\u00ading there.<\/p>\n

Com\u00admen\u00adtary:<\/em> Tanithia is def\u00adi\u00adnite\u00adly an mes\u00admer\u00adiz\u00ading enchantress: in fact, after an ambush ear\u00adly in the sto\u00adry, there is casu\u00adal men\u00adtion of how she mes\u00admer\u00adizes the men who ambushed her into for\u00adget\u00adting cer\u00adtain incon\u00adve\u00adnient mem\u00ado\u00adries about the ambush and what hap\u00adpened there. But her real chal\u00adlenge is when is cap\u00adtured and impris\u00adoned by the witch hunter, who, while he falls under the spell of her hyp\u00adnot\u00adic eyes and com\u00admand\u00ading voice and mag\u00adi\u00adcal pass\u00ades, is immune to her fem\u00adi\u00adnine charms not just because he hates women but also because he\u2019s more than just infat\u00adu\u00adat\u00aded with his image of his god.<\/p>\n

That isn\u2019t to say Lyla, her vam\u00adpir\u00adic coun\u00adter\u00adpart, isn\u2019t equal\u00adly mes\u00admer\u00adiz\u00ading: through their mutu\u00adal attrac\u00adtion she is able to repeat\u00aded\u00adly enchant Tanithia by exhaust\u00ading her both phys\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly and men\u00adtal\u00adly, thus low\u00ader\u00ading her defens\u00ades. She is, though, only the pup\u00adpet here, under the fig\u00adu\u00adra\u00adtive con\u00adtrol her\u00adself of her pup\u00adpeteer demon\u00adic overlords.<\/p>\n

Rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtion:<\/em> For what it is, it is a quick but lik\u00adable read, illus\u00adtrat\u00aded with very nice (and some NSFW<\/acronym>) B&W ink draw\u00adings. (Tanithia is quite an eye-full and quite a hand\u00adful for her lovers, as well.) Even though Llewellyn<\/a> pub\u00adlish\u00ades fic\u00adtion, this is not exact\u00adly the norm. Its cer\u00adtain\u00adly more adult than its fare these days: Tanithia is gor\u00adgeous and seems ever will\u00ading to enjoy sex and even to employ it for rit\u00adu\u00adal pur\u00adpos\u00ades. It should come as no sur\u00adprise that she spends a sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant por\u00adtion of the book naked, albeit part of the time shapeshift\u00aded into wolf form. But, if you find such things inter\u00adest\u00ading, then I would rec\u00adom\u00admend find\u00ading a copy.<\/p>\n

Adden\u00adda:<\/em> The author states that Ed Fitch<\/a> is a pseu\u00addo\u00adnym: it could be inferred that at the time (1983) the book was pub\u00adlished, the author believed he had valid rea\u00adsons to dis\u00adas\u00adso\u00adci\u00adate his day job work\u00ading in the defense indus\u00adtry from his Gard\u00adner\u00adian faith and exten\u00adsive writ\u00adings. How\u00adev\u00ader, all of the resources I have dis\u00adcov\u00adered make no men\u00adtion of that. These sources all state, though, that he was<\/em> part of the Buck\u00adlands\u2019 orig\u00adi\u00adnal US Gard\u00adner\u00adian orga\u00adni\u00adza\u00adtion, ini\u00adti\u00adat\u00aded by the Buck\u00adlands them\u00adselves, so his occult lin\u00adeage is impeccable.<\/p>\n
