I have not been read\u00ading most of the new DC 52 uni\u00adverse, espe\u00adcial\u00adly the Super\u00adman titles, but I at least try to keep up in case some\u00adthing shows up that I should be aware of.<\/p>\n

Well, that paid off this week.<\/p>\n

Action Comics #16: \u201cThe Second Death of Superman\u201d<\/em><\/h2>\n

I\u2019m not exact\u00adly sure what is hap\u00adpen\u00ading here: chaot\u00adic is hard\u00adly a descrip\u00adtion for what is going on, but at some lev\u00adel it appears some\u00adone has bro\u00adken time so that things are hap\u00adpen\u00ading out of time and across time, cul\u00admi\u00adnat\u00ading with the return the crea\u00adture who killed Super\u00adman in a famous sto\u00adry\u00adline sev\u00ader\u00adal years ago and the return of the Cri\u00adsis of Infi\u00adnite Worlds. Oh, and the found\u00ading three adult mem\u00adbers of the Legion of Super-Heroes just showed up, trav\u00adel\u00ading from a future where they were outlawed.<\/p>\n

If that last part sounds famil\u00adiar, it should: the Legion had been out\u00adlawed in the past, through the machi\u00adna\u00adtions of the super-hyp\u00adno\u00adtist Uni\u00adver\u00adso. In fact, even the future time has bro\u00adken, and the Legion them\u00adselves unknow\u00ading\u00adly help Uni\u00adver\u00adso attain pow\u00ader before they are out\u00adlawed and they have to return to the present to pre\u00advent the changes in the future.<\/p>\n

Uni\u00adver\u00adso: After all, a hyp\u00adnot\u00adic dis\u00adguise is child\u2019s play, no more than a mere mod\u00adicum<\/strong> of skill, even in front of a mass audi\u00adence. How\u00adev\u00ader, hyp\u00adnot\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly induc\u00ading a pow\u00ader\u00adful telepath to think<\/strong> she scanned your mind \u2026 now that requires sub\u00adtle\u00adty<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As this sequence is not in the reg\u00adu\u00adlar Legion title, I must assume that these events are part of the chaot\u00adic time\u00adline and not set in the cur\u00adrent continuity.<\/p>\n

Mars Attacks Popeye<\/h2>\n

IDW is pub\u00adlish\u00ading a num\u00adber of comics based on \u201cMars Attacks\u201d, the ear\u00adly trad\u00ading card set and the lat\u00ader inter\u00adest and movie sur\u00adround\u00ading it. Among the one-shot comics include crossovers with Judge Dredd, Ghost\u00adbusters and Popeye.<\/p>\n

In \u201cMars Attacks Pop\u00adeye\u201d, the invad\u00ading horde of Mar\u00adtians are met by the Sea Hag, who hyp\u00adno\u00adtizes them all to do her bid\u00adding, which, being the destruc\u00adtion of the town of Sweet\u00adhaven and Pop\u00adeye, is quite to their lik\u00ading. How\u00adev\u00ader, even the sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adic might of the Mar\u00adt\u00adian invaders is no match for the spinach-pow\u00adered fists of Pop\u00adeye and his father Poopdeck Pappy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
