I checked my blog: the last entry was from 2024, and, before that, 2021. There are a two big rea\u00adsons for that.<\/p>\n

First off, COVID. That was depress\u00ading enough that I focussed on oth\u00ader things. I was also busy with those oth\u00ader things that I did\u00adn\u2019t think about writ\u00ading on here at the time. (It can be rough, because it is some\u00adtimes dif\u00adfi\u00adcult to con\u00adcen\u00adtrate for the long peri\u00adods of time nec\u00ades\u00adsary to write.)<\/p>\n

Sec\u00adond\u00adly, there were seri\u00adous prob\u00adlems with the back end of the web\u00adsite, and I did\u00adn\u2019t want to take the time to inves\u00adti\u00adgate them. When I final\u00adly cat\u00ada\u00adloged the big book\u00adcase, stuffed full and then some, hold\u00ading most of The Col\u00adlec\u00adtion, I select\u00aded sev\u00ader\u00adal to write short pieces about over on BlueSky<\/a>, but there were some that were too involved for that short for\u00admat, so, one night, I delved into the error logs. Main\u00adly, the prob\u00adlems were with a cou\u00adple of the plu\u00adg\u00adins, one of which was mine. That one was eas\u00adi\u00adly dealt with: it was a mis\u00adtake I cor\u00adrect\u00aded else\u00adwhere, and neglect\u00aded to do here. The oth\u00ader prob\u00adlems were with anoth\u00ader plu\u00adg\u00adin: the coder used some very out-of-date con\u00adven\u00adtions in string han\u00addling and some \u2018fan\u00adcy\u2019 cod\u00ading using tri\u00adnary expres\u00adsions that should have been han\u00addled with straight-for\u00adward if\/then\/else struc\u00adtures. I also took the time to clean up some of the cor\u00adrupt\u00aded char\u00adac\u00adters: some\u00adwhere along the way, some of the left and right dou\u00adble quote marks got changed to weird char\u00adac\u00adters, so I went through some of the posts to clean them up. Some\u00adtimes, just the thought of fix\u00ading every\u00adthing was enough to turn me away: not sure what hap\u00adpened, but I am glad it did happen.<\/p>\n

I still need to go through the bro\u00adken links and clean them up and look at using a bet\u00adter theme, so if things look a lit\u00adtle wonky at times, its just the out\u00adward signs of the back end construction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
