Descrip\u00adtion:<\/em> In \u2018Lois Lane \u2014 Super-Baby-Sit\u00adter\u2019<\/em> in issue #57 (May, 1965) of \u201cSuper\u00adman\u2019s Girl Friend Lois Lane<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>, Super\u00adman drops off Lois Lane and Lana Lang at a fan\u00adcy hotel, just before leaves Metrop\u00ado\u00adlis, telling them that he is tak\u00ading Clark Kent to help him write up the find\u00adings of his exper\u00adi\u00admen\u00adtal youth restora\u00adtion machine, but that he will be back in time to attend an aniver\u00adsary par\u00adty of the Dai\u00adly Plan\u00adet. Lois and Lana are shar\u00ading a suite at the hotel as part of the hotel\u2019s grand opening.<\/p>\n

Lat\u00ader, Lois dis\u00adcov\u00aders a very young Superba\u00adby in an alley and takes him back to their hotel suite. They soon dis\u00adcov\u00ader just how dif\u00adfi\u00adcult is it to dis\u00adci\u00adpline some\u00adone who is invul\u00adner\u00ada\u00adble and can\u00adnot feel pain and so must find oth\u00ader means to keep him safe until the youth restora\u00adtion treat\u00adment wore off. Besides, it gives the both of them the chance to rein\u00adforce and pos\u00adsi\u00adbly height\u00aden his attrac\u00adtion to them, which they seem to have no luck doing.<\/p>\n

Its Lana\u2019s idea to watch tele\u00advi\u00adsion with him (and to get an idea how old this com\u00adic is, the TV at this swanky new hotel is black & white), fig\u00adur\u00ading that it would fas\u00adci\u00adnate the tod\u00addler Superba\u00adby. It cer\u00adtain\u00adly does, but a pro\u00adgram on the TV fas\u00adci\u00adnates Lois. That pro\u00adgram shows a hyp\u00adno\u00adtist hyp\u00adno\u00adtiz\u00ading a young sub\u00adject and plant\u00adi\u00adng a post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic sug\u00adges\u00adtion, which the sub\u00adject blind\u00adly fol\u00adlowed just a few min\u00adutes later.<\/p>\n

[As the TV screen lights up.] (Announc\u00ader) \u201cAnd now Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor Mills will demon\u00adstrate the use of post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic suggestion.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor) \u201cChil\u00addren are most eas\u00adi\u00adly influ\u00adenced when under hyp\u00adno\u00adtism. A month ago, while this lad was hyp\u00adno\u00adtized, I gave him cer\u00adtain com\u00admands \u2026 Let me replay the tapes of that program.\u201d<\/p>\n

[When the tapes are re-run] (Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor, mak\u00ading a hyp\u00adnot\u00adic ges\u00adture by extend\u00ading both hands and arms toward his entranced sub\u00adject) \u201cRemem\u00adber, my boy! I have giv\u00aden you a post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic com\u00admand. 30 days from now, at pre\u00adcise\u00adly 8:25 PM, you will obey that com\u00admand, no mat\u00adter where you are. Till then my orders will be locked in your subconscious.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Boy, with the light from a spin\u00adning device shin\u00ading into his eyes) \u201cYes, master!\u201d<\/p>\n

[As the re-run ends.] (Boy) \u201cBut Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor, I don\u2019t remem\u00adber being hyp\u00adno\u00adtized \u2026 I don\u2019t rememver any com\u00admands. What did you order me to do?\u201d<\/p>\n

(Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor) \u201cWe\u2019ll know in just a moment. It\u2019s almost 8:25 now.\u201d<\/p>\n

[Then, at the pre\u00adcise moment \u2026] (Boy, pick\u00ading up a pitch\u00ader and dump\u00ading the con\u00adtents on his head) \u201cGuh\u00adhh! I dumped that pitch\u00ader of water on myself! Some\u00adthing forced me to do it!\u201d<\/p>\n

(Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor) \u201cHa, Ha! This is exact\u00adly what I ordered you to do when I hyp\u00adno\u00adtized you a month ago. My hyp\u00adnot\u00adic com\u00admand was irresistible!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That demon\u00adstra\u00adtion gave Lois an IDEA: if she could hyp\u00adno\u00adtize Superba\u00adby and give him a post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic sug\u00adges\u00adtion into propos\u00ading to her when he returned to his nor\u00admal age, then she\u2019d get the one thing she\u2019d been want\u00adi\u00adng as long as she\u2019s known him. Thus, she calls the hotel front desk, say\u00ading she\u2019s con\u00adduct\u00ading a test of their ser\u00advices, and wants an elec\u00adtric fan, a mir\u00adror, a chalk\u00adboard and chalk and a few oth\u00ader items. Using the rotat\u00ading fan and the mir\u00adror to reflect a flash\u00ading light into Superbaby\u2019s eyes, she hyp\u00adno\u00adtizes him and has him write the words \u201cME LOVE LOIS\u201d on the chalk\u00adboard, over and over. (Inter\u00adest\u00ading in that Superba\u00adby speaks in baby-talk but has enough intel\u00adli\u00adgence to spell even sim\u00adple words correctly.)<\/p>\n

Unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly for Lois\u2019 plans, Lana caught the cun\u00adning gleam Lois flashed when she though of her idea, and cov\u00ader\u00adly watched her hyp\u00adno\u00adtize Superba\u00adby, and she went and did exact\u00adly the same thing. She gets a spin\u00adning top and some paint (and a gal\u00adlon of ice cream) through the hotel and pro\u00adceeds to hyp\u00adno\u00adtize and brain\u00adwash Superba\u00adby by paint\u00ading a spi\u00adral on the sur\u00adface of the top. And Lois watch\u00ades her do it.<\/p>\n

From then on, each will alter\u00adnate\u00adly keep hyp\u00adno\u00adtiz\u00ading Superba\u00adby and rein\u00adforc\u00ading the sug\u00adges\u00adtions until one morn\u00ading he dis\u00adap\u00adpears. They both fig\u00adure he returned to his nor\u00admal age, and then await\u00aded to return to gain their reward. But when Super\u00adman appears, he has no idea what they\u2019re talk\u00ading about, as they both expect him to obey their post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic com\u00admands. But he said he could\u00adn\u2019t have been the Superba\u00adby: the machine he was work\u00ading on explod\u00aded before it could be test\u00aded. That leaves the ques\u00adtion of who was<\/em> Superba\u00adby, and the answer is to be found with the advanced devices in Super\u00adman\u2019s Fortress of Solitude.<\/p>\n

There, they dis\u00adcov\u00ader that it was a Superba\u00adby from a par\u00adal\u00adlel uni\u00adverse (\u201cone of count\u00adless such worlds, all sim\u00adi\u00adlar to Earth, but each with its own pecu\u00adliar dif\u00adfer\u00adences.\u201d) There, the machine explod\u00aded after<\/em> reduc\u00ading Super\u00adman to Superba\u00adby, at the same time shift\u00ading him into their par\u00adal\u00adlel world. They were even able to track and watch Super\u00adman meet up with Lois and pro\u00adpose to her (Lois: \u201cMy post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic sug\u00adges\u00adtion worked! He\u2019s propos\u00ading to my dou\u00adble!\u201d) and then to pro\u00adpose to Lana as well. Appar\u00adent\u00adly bigamy is legal (an inter\u00adest\u00ading thing to dis\u00adcov\u00ader in a com\u00adic from the mid-60\u2019s) on that world and so Super\u00adman is able to car\u00adry out both<\/em> sets of post-hyp\u00adnot\u00adic sug\u00adges\u00adtions and mar\u00adry both<\/em> Lois and Lana.<\/p>\n
