In \u201cPeter Park\u00ader, the Spec\u00adtac\u00adu\u00adlar Spder-Man\u201d<\/em> # 24 (Novem\u00adber, 1978) the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler is out to score big, and the man\u00adage\u00adment and the audi\u00adence at the Beyond For\u00adev\u00ader Dis\u00adco are just the first to hear and feel the pow\u00ader of mes\u00admer\u00adiz\u00ading music. Unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly for him, Spi\u00adder-Man is in the audi\u00adence, and he has expe\u00adri\u00adence in fight\u00ading mind-con\u00adtrol\u00adling foes before. He has very lit\u00adtle trou\u00adble against a rook\u00adie like the Hypno-Hustler.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n After defeat\u00ading a gang of thugs on the sub\u00adway, all Peter Park\u00ader wants to do is go back to his apart\u00adment and hit the books. His friends have oth\u00ader plans, which include tak\u00ading him out to see the new act at the Beyond For\u00adev\u00ader Dis\u00adco. And to make mat\u00adters worse, they even brought a white suit for him (which looks like it was lift\u00aded from John Tra\u00advol\u00adta and \u201cSat\u00adur\u00adday Night Fever\u201d<\/em>: just what the straight-laced Peter Park\u00ader needs to feel absolute\u00adly embar\u00adrassed. How he gets the suit on in front of his friends and still keep his Spi\u00adder-Man cos\u00adtume on under\u00adneath a secret is a mystery.)<\/p>\n At the dis\u00adco, the man\u00adag\u00ader dis\u00adcov\u00aders his big act rob\u00adbing his safe. To keep him silent, the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adter demon\u00adstrates his two big weapons: first, his hyp\u00adno-gog\u00adgles, for indi\u00advid\u00adual tar\u00adgets, and sec\u00adond\u00adly, his back\u00adup band, the Mer\u00adcy Killers, whose siren singing com\u00adpli\u00adments his abil\u00adi\u00adties. Out\u00adside, Peter and his friends arrive just in time for the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler and the Mer\u00adcy Killers to start their hyp\u00adnot\u00adic per\u00adfor\u00admance. The effect puts the audi\u00adence into a trance, which would have affect\u00aded Peter as well, except he has expe\u00adri\u00adence in fight\u00ading off mind control.<\/p>\n [The music is loud \u2014 inces\u00adsant!<\/strong> It wash\u00ades out over the dance floor in waves of sound. It car\u00adries with it the will<\/strong> \u2014 the con\u00adscious\u00adness<\/strong> of the dancers<\/strong> \u2026 and recedes with the sub\u00adtle insistince of the ebbing tide!]<\/strong><\/p>\n (Peter) \u201cIts the music! It \u2014 it\u2019s mes\u00admer\u00adiz\u00ading them \u2026 guid\u00ading their move\u00adments. H\u2011Haven\u2019t felt any\u00adthing t\u2011this strong ever since Mind\u00adworm<\/strong>!. It \u2014 it\u2019s almost \u2026 over-pow\u00ader\u00ading!<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n To keep him\u00adself from falling under the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler\u2019s con\u00adtrol, he bor\u00adrow the trick from Odysseus and puts web\u00adbing balls into his ears to block the sound. He then con\u00adfronts the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler, unable to hear what he is say\u00ading, but, from long famil\u00adiar\u00adi\u00adty with vil\u00adlain-speak, still man\u00adag\u00ading to fig\u00adure out what he is say\u00ading. He also dis\u00adcov\u00aders his foe is not just a one-trick vil\u00adlian: the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler can swing a gui\u00adtar like a base\u00adball bat, and his belt and boots are gim\u00admicked, too. Still, that isn\u2019t enough to fight off Spi\u00adder-Man, so the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler uses his hyp\u00adnot\u00adic gog\u00adgles to call in his reserves, the Mer\u00adcy Killers. Which is exact\u00adly what Spi\u00adder-Man was wait\u00ading for. The Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adter is becom\u00ading frus\u00adtrat\u00aded at not being able to to defeat or even fight Spi\u00adder-Man and is get\u00adting angri\u00ader, while Spi\u00adder-Man is as calm as he was when he start\u00aded. At just the right moment, Spi\u00adder-Man jumps behind the frus\u00adtrat\u00aded Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler and removes his head\u00adphones, tak\u00ading away his pro\u00adtec\u00adtion against the Mer\u00adcy Killers\u2019 hyp\u00adnot\u00adic singing.<\/p>\n (Peter) \u201cWhen will these pik\u00aders learn<\/strong> that anger only cloud your judge\u00adment \u2026 set\u00adting them up for the sim\u00adplest of maneu\u00advers \u2026 like this one<\/strong>?!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n (Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler) \u201cWhat in \u2014 ? He would lat\u00ader join Vil-A-Non for recov\u00ader\u00ading ex-super-vil\u00adlains. He also appears in the back\u00adground in the \u201cHouse of M\u201d storyline.<\/p>\n As for the Mer\u00adcy Killers, they were nev\u00ader unique\u00adly iden\u00adti\u00adfied and nev\u00ader appeared in sub\u00adse\u00adquent comics.<\/p>\n Com\u00admen\u00adtary:<\/em> Dis\u00adco has a lot to answer for musi\u00adcal\u00adly, but in all fair\u00adness, don\u2019t hold it respon\u00adsi\u00adble for the char\u00adac\u00adter of the Hyp\u00adno-Hus\u00adtler. The blame goes to the writer Bill Mant\u00adlo and artist Bill Springer.
