One which caused a young vir\u00adgin to turn up preg\u00adnant, almost cost\u00ading her life and san\u00adi\u00adty \u2026 and John\u2019s as&nbsp;well&nbsp;\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><em>Descrip\u00adtion:<\/em> John Swift is a man with\u00adout goals, an intel\u00adli\u00adgent man with\u00adout the dri\u00adve to do any\u00adthing with that intel\u00adli\u00adgence, an indif\u00adfer\u00adent stu\u00addent with a lack\u00adlus\u00adter degree from a promi\u00adnent uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adty, a man with no prospects and no desires. His one great gift is his facil\u00adi\u00adty with hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, a gift he used for his own per\u00adson\u00adal sat\u00adis\u00adfac\u00adtion, yet a gift he can\u00adnot use open\u00adly or to aid oth\u00aders. Yet he is dri\u00adven to use that gift, so he is forced to work through a most unlike\u00adly duo: a pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal hyp\u00adnother\u00ada\u00adpist long out of prac\u00adtice and a decide\u00adly unpro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal ther\u00ada\u00adpist with a bur\u00adgeon\u00ading \u2018prac\u00adtice\u2019 deal\u00ading in entranced sex.<\/p>\n<p>And through a strange coin\u00adci\u00addence he meets back up with Lola, one of the many women he seduced using hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, yet the only one who is now pay\u00ading the price. She is preg\u00adnant with John\u2019s child, yet her hyp\u00adnot\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly-induced amne\u00adsia about the event means she has no idea who the father is. Every mem\u00ado\u00adry, every psy\u00adcho\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal inves\u00adti\u00adga\u00adtion into that ques\u00adtion even\u00adtu\u00adal\u00adly was fruit\u00adless. She is man\u00adag\u00ading to cope with the sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion yet stil wants an answer, and hyp\u00adno\u00adsis may be the answer to her prob\u00adlem, and John is the hyp\u00adno\u00adtist who might be able to help&nbsp;her.<\/p>\n<p>But he has to get over his own guilt first, and his wal\u00adlow\u00ading in self-doubt and his dis\u00adgust at his excess\u00ades in the com\u00adpa\u00adny of the unpro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal hyp\u00adnother\u00ada\u00adpist does\u00adn\u2019t help mat\u00adters. And to do that, he has to real\u00adize that, dspite his affect\u00aded dis\u00adin\u00adter\u00adest, John has found some\u00adthing (or some\u00adone) that he can be inter\u00adest\u00aded&nbsp;in.<\/p>\n<p><em>Com\u00admen\u00adtary:<\/em> If you\u2019re look\u00ading for ram\u00adpant descrip\u00adtions of sex\u00adu\u00adal escapades under hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, you won\u2019t find them here. There is plen\u00adty of <em>implied<\/em> sex\u00adu\u00adal activ\u00adi\u00adty under hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, but its all off screen, even the cru\u00adcial scene between John and Lola. As such, is promis\u00ades much (from the cov\u00ader pictuer alone) but does\u00adn\u2019t deliv\u00ader except to titil\u00adi\u00adate the read\u00ader\u2019s imagination.<\/p>\n<p>What the sto\u00adry <em>is<\/em> about is John\u2019s descent into a per\u00adson\u00adal hell because of his awak\u00aden\u00ading feel\u00adings and guilt toward the girl he used once and then for\u00adgot about. Once he knows about Lola and her \u201ccon\u00addi\u00adtion\u201d (as it would have been described back in that peri\u00adod) his whole world is com\u00adplete\u00adly unset\u00adtled and he tries to com\u00adpen\u00adsate, first by going out\u00adside the nor\u00admal bounds of hyp\u00adnother\u00ada\u00adpy, pos\u00adsi\u00adbly see\u00ading that as some form of com\u00adpen\u00adsa\u00adtion, and then by wal\u00adlow\u00ading in despair. It takes Lola\u2019s own per\u00adson\u00adal trou\u00adbles to shake him out of it and to come to the real\u00adiza\u00adtion that he actu\u00adal\u00adly loves her as much as she dis\u00adcov\u00aders she loves&nbsp;him.<\/p>\n<p>I do have to give the author cred\u00adit for the induc\u00adtions: they are well-writ\u00adten, so I have to won\u00adder how the author imag\u00adined them or whether they were copied from some\u00adwhere or writ\u00adten for him. I have not found any infor\u00adma\u00adtion about the author direct\u00adly, so it might be he did have some form of train\u00ading in hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, but I think it more like\u00adly he had help&nbsp;here.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtion:<\/em> This is a hard book to find (I found it only recent\u00adly and paid a good price for it) but I do have to rec\u00adom\u00admend it if only (and prob\u00ada\u00adbly only) for the num\u00adber of induc\u00adtions record\u00aded there\u00adin.
