Word is that Mar\u00advel Comics, fresh off the suc\u00adcess of such movies as Iron Man<\/em> and Thor<\/em> is now look\u00ading at anoth\u00ader char\u00adac\u00adter for a pos\u00adsi\u00adble movie. That char\u00adac\u00adter is Doc\u00adtor Stephen Strange, oth\u00ader\u00adwise known as Doc\u00adtor Strange<\/a>, Mas\u00adter of the Mys\u00adtic Arts and Sor\u00adcer\u00ader Surpreme.<\/p>\n

Doc\u00adtor Strange is one Mar\u00advel\u2019s less\u00ader-known (which puts him in the same class as Iron Man and Thor, come to think of it) and old\u00adest (Strange Tales<\/em> #110. July, 1963) char\u00adac\u00adters, cre\u00adat\u00aded by writer Stan Lee<\/a> and artist Steve Ditko<\/a>. Doc\u00adtor Strange was once Doc\u00adtor Stephen Strange, a suc\u00adcess\u00adful but arro\u00adgant sur\u00adgeon, until an acci\u00addent dam\u00adaged his hands such that he could\u00adn\u2019t prac\u00adtice. His only hope was the mys\u00adte\u00adri\u00adous fig\u00adure known as the Ancient One, but Doc\u00adtor Strange soon real\u00adized his path was away from his sur\u00adgi\u00adcal prac\u00adtice and instead the prac\u00adtice of the mys\u00adtic arts. The good Doc\u00adtor has sur\u00advived many changes and many tri\u00adals in his com\u00adic career, and giv\u00aden his back sto\u00adry, could make for a good movie.<\/p>\n

And that is appar\u00adent\u00adly what is hap\u00adpen\u00ading. Accord\u00ading to the Twtich Film web\u00adsite, here<\/a>, Mar\u00advel already has a script in hand, from screen\u00adwrit\u00aders Thomas Don\u00adnel\u00adly<\/a> and Joshua Oppen\u00adheimer<\/a>, who were respon\u00adsi\u00adble for the recent Conan reboot movie, and are report\u00aded\u00adly in the process of con\u00adtract\u00ading a direc\u00adtor and seek\u00ading the right actor to play the part. (Of course, there was<\/em> a Doc\u00adtor Strange<\/a> movie, a MFTV pro\u00adduc\u00adtion from 1978. We won\u2019t talk about it right now.)<\/p>\n

I for one would love to see the good Doc\u00adtor on the big screen, prop\u00ader\u00adly done, of course. I\u2019ve been a fan of the char\u00adac\u00adter for many years, and many of the sto\u00adries (and some of the art\u00adwork) is clas\u00adsic mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal. That he has a num\u00adber of hyp\u00adnot\u00adic spells in his arse\u00adnal, not to men\u00adtion his amulet, the Eye of Agg\u00adamo\u00adto, which has the pow\u00ader to hyp\u00adno\u00adtize, only adds to the appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
