For the fan\u00adtas\u00adtic truth is that a coun\u00adtry once revered for its high lev\u00adel of edu\u00adca\u00adtion has resort\u00aded, in des\u00adper\u00ada\u00adtion, to hyp\u00adno\u00adtism in order to keep its flesh and blood robots in line.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Thus begins a two-page pho\u00adto arti\u00adcle in Sen\u00adsa\u00adtion<\/em> mag\u00ada\u00adzine, from the ear\u00adly war years, being pub\u00adlished in March, 1942. As might be expect\u00aded from the lead, the whole arti\u00adcle is about the ways Nazi Ger\u00admany is hyp\u00adno\u00adtiz\u00ading its cit\u00adi\u00adzens into becom\u00ading not just \u201cgood lit\u00adtle Ger\u00admans\u201d but robot\u00adic slaves to the sin\u00adis\u00adter demands of Nazism. The rather heavy-hand\u00aded gung-ho jin\u00adgo-ism and pro\u00adpa\u00adgan\u00adda is quite evi\u00addent through\u00adout the sev\u00ader\u00adal para\u00adgraphs that make up the text of the arti\u00adcle. In fact, it seems pure\u00adly pro\u00adpa\u00adgan\u00adda, at least based on the nine pho\u00adtographs includ\u00aded with the article.<\/p>\n

Out of the 9 pho\u00adtographs, three are out\u00addoor shots of some unknown event while the oth\u00ader six look more like pic\u00adtures from the aver\u00adage stage hyp\u00adno\u00adsis show.<\/p>\n

One of the first lessons in the course for youth who would be a part of the \u201cmas\u00adter race\u201d is (1) to cause one\u2019s self pain and to learn to stand it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This pho\u00adto\u00adgraph shows a young man, his fin\u00adger\u00adtips in his mouth. It does\u00adn\u2019t appear that he is caus\u00ading him\u00adself pain, instead it looks like he\u2019s try\u00ading to eat something.<\/p>\n

A Nazi super\u00adman in the mak\u00ading learns to obey orders (8) by sub\u00admit\u00adting to a prepara\u00adto\u00adry trance which is expect\u00aded to stand him in good stead in the field of com\u00adbat. Ini\u00adtia\u00adtive and thoughts of per\u00adson\u00adal safe\u00adty are weed\u00aded out as a Nazi youth, his mind direct\u00aded by the hyp\u00adno\u00adtist at the left (9) lifts a chair.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

All of the out\u00addoor pho\u00adtographs appear to be of the same event, as do the indoor pho\u00adtographs, but there is noth\u00ading to sug\u00adgest they are any way con\u00adnect\u00aded. Also, all of these pic\u00adtures have noth\u00ading what\u00adso\u00adev\u00ader not only to link them to the claims of the text, but not even any\u00adthing to sug\u00adgest that the peo\u00adple involved are even Ger\u00adman: there are no uni\u00adforms (even of the hyp\u00adno\u00adtists as would be expect\u00aded) and every\u00adone appears to wear aver\u00adage cloth\u00ading. More\u00adover, just about every\u00adone pic\u00adtured has dark hair, hard\u00adly the image of the blonde Aryan fig\u00adures so nor\u00admal\u00adly asso\u00adci\u00adat\u00aded with Ger\u00admany and the Nazis.<\/p>\n

Com\u00admen\u00adtary:<\/em> Aside from rein\u00adforc\u00ading the stereo\u00adtypes regard\u00ading hyp\u00adno\u00adsis, the arti\u00adcle is also rein\u00adforc\u00ading the sense and demo\u00adniza\u00adtion of the \u201coth\u00ader\u201d that occurs dur\u00ading war.
