Of course, it was all a trick, but the unsus\u00adpect\u00ading Bar\u00adlow quick\u00adly dis\u00adcov\u00adered her spell was wreak\u00ading hav\u00adoc on his mind and heart. For the woman who had ensnared him was the bewitch\u00ading Rowe\u00adna herself!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Their meet\u00adings draw sparks, which is not helped when Bar\u00adlow\u2019s moth\u00ader assists Rowe\u00adna\u2019s entrance into society.<\/p>\n

It all comes to head when Lord Bar\u00adlow believes Rowe\u00adna has hyp\u00adno\u00adtized him into falling love with her, in jest. In fact, since this is<\/em> a Regency romance, his feel\u00adings toward her quite nat\u00adur\u00adal, but that does\u00adn\u2019t mean that all will go smooth\u00adly. The antics of his young ward, whom the read\u00aders dis\u00adcov\u00ader run\u00adning away from her school and cross\u00ading paths with Mrs. More\u00adly, is a fur\u00adther dis\u00adtrac\u00adtion (for his mind and his heart) he does not need.<\/p>\n

Com\u00admen\u00adtary:<\/em> Rowe\u00adna is a fun char\u00adac\u00adter, as she dis\u00adplays a more casu\u00adal atti\u00adtude toward the use of her rather excep\u00adtion\u00adal abil\u00adi\u00adties than might be expect\u00aded of her. She eas\u00adi\u00adly entrances a dandy who was annoy\u00ading her and her escort a pub\u00adlic inn:<\/p>\n

After Emi\u00adly undid the clasp of the gold chain, Rowe\u00adna held it up, allow\u00ading the heart-shaped pen\u00addant to dan\u00adgle back and forth.<\/p>\n
