To make mat\u00adters worse, sev\u00ader\u00adal, includ\u00ading their most pow\u00ader\u00adful mem\u00adbers, have been arrest\u00aded and impris\u00adoned on the prison plan\u00adet of Takron-Gal\u00adtos, forced to toil for a ruth\u00adless warden.<\/p>\n
Upon return\u00ading to Earth, they are met by the Sci\u00adence Police, who con\u00adfis\u00adcate their space ships and arrest them all for cur\u00adfew vio\u00adla\u00adtions. They reunite the fol\u00adlow\u00ading day, a (very con\u00adve\u00adnient\u00adly timed) acci\u00addent forces them to fol\u00adlow the Legion code and use their pow\u00aders, only to have their most pow\u00ader\u00adful mem\u00adbers arrest\u00aded by the Sci\u00adence Police and sen\u00adtenced to years of labor on the Takron-Gal\u00adtos prison plan\u00adet. The rest are for\u00adbid\u00adden to use their pow\u00aders: when emerge from the tri\u00adal they face a hos\u00adtile crowd, who do lit\u00adtle dam\u00adage except that the only mem\u00adber of the Legion with any seri\u00adous polit\u00adi\u00adcal influ\u00adence, Princess Pro\u00adjec\u00adtra of the rul\u00ading fam\u00adi\u00adly of Oran\u00addo is hos\u00adpi\u00adtal\u00adized in a coma.<\/p>\n
Mean\u00adwhile on Takron-Gal\u00adtos, Super\u00adboy, Mon-El and Ultra Boy have been ren\u00addered pow\u00ader\u00adless to escape: Super\u00adboy\u2019s chains are Kryp\u00adtonite, his only weak\u00adness, Mon-El\u2019s lead serum has worn off and he is chained with lead, and Ultra Boy\u2019s pow\u00aders are negat\u00aded using a spe\u00adcial radioac\u00adtive mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal. The rest of the impris\u00adoned Legion\u00adnaires are sim\u00adi\u00adlar\u00adly unable to effect a rescue.<\/p>\n
The rest try to regroup, only to dis\u00adcov\u00ader even their par\u00adents are mon\u00adi\u00adtor\u00ading their com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtions. When they final\u00adly do reunite, it is to approach R J Brande, the man who found\u00aded and fund\u00aded the Legion. Instead of get\u00adting his help, he called his guards, accus\u00ading the Legion of try\u00ading to rob him, which result\u00aded in sev\u00ader\u00adal more Legion\u00adnaires being cap\u00adtured. The rest fled under\u00adground, where they dis\u00adcov\u00ader one of Luthor\u2019s old lab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adto\u00adries (and its a cred\u00adit to his engi\u00adneer\u00ading genius that every\u00adthing still worked after a thou\u00adsand years.) There they vowed to con\u00adtin\u00adue their effort to restore the Legion and dis\u00adcov\u00ader the cause of this situation.<\/p>\n

But what most peo\u00adple don\u2019t real\u00adize about the Legion is that even the mem\u00adbers with \u201csil\u00adly\u201d pow\u00aders like Shrink\u00ading Vio\u00adlet and Trip\u00adli\u00adcate Girl can be very effec\u00adtive, espe\u00adcial\u00adly when used in intel\u00adli\u00adgence oper\u00ada\u00adtions. Plus, they have Braini\u00adac 5 and Chameleon Boy, the \u201cbrains\u201d of the Legion and the head of the Legion Espi\u00adonage Squad, respectively.<\/p>\n
Lost in a maze of tun\u00adnels under\u00adneath Metrop\u00ado\u00adlis, the Legion\u00adnaires acci\u00adden\u00adtal\u00adly dis\u00adcov\u00ader one of Luthor\u2019s Lairs, the hid\u00adden lab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adto\u00adries of Lex Luthor. From there, they start their cam\u00adpaign of guer\u00adril\u00adla war\u00adfare by free\u00ading their fel\u00adlow Legion\u00adnaires held in the Sci\u00adence Police prison.<\/p>\n
Mean\u00adwhile, Pres\u00adi\u00addent Boltax gets an update from Takron-Gal\u00adtos, then enters a secret room where a mys\u00adte\u00adri\u00adous\u00adly famil\u00adiar fig\u00adure sits, unre\u00adspon\u00adsive to Boltax\u2019s pleas for him, his son, to join his quest to con\u00adquer all of the Unit\u00aded Plan\u00adets. Final\u00adly, Boltax leaves, angered and deject\u00aded: only after then does the fig\u00adure return to work\u00ading out his escape.<\/p>\n

A brain\u00adstorm\u00ading ses\u00adsion and some research by Braini\u00adac 5 dis\u00adcov\u00adered the water from the World\u00adwide Water Plant was doc\u00adtored with mind con\u00adtrol chem\u00adi\u00adcals, for which Braini\u00adac 5 cre\u00adates an antidote.<\/p>\n
A diver\u00adsion\u00adary raid on the plant allows Braini\u00adac 5 the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to add the anti\u00addote to the water sup\u00adply, but a guard notices him and stops him. Mean\u00adwhile, the oth\u00ader Legion\u00adnaires are slow\u00adly being trapped by the Sci\u00adence Police: things look grim for the Legion until a stray shot floods the SP with the anti\u00addote, free\u00ading them from the mind con\u00adtrol, but Braini\u00adac 5 denies doing it. That\u2019s when the mys\u00adtery fig\u00adure emerges from the shad\u00adows, and Cos\u00admic Boy iden\u00adti\u00adfies him as Rond Vidar, the son of Uni\u00adver\u00adso. Boltax is revealed to be Uni\u00adver\u00adso (with snarky com\u00adment blam\u00ading his defeat on that pesky son of his) and led away by the Sci\u00adence Police.<\/p>\n
