These series were extreme\u00adly pop\u00adu\u00adlar with both adults and chil\u00addren, large\u00adly for their clever writ\u00ading and the excep\u00adtion\u00adal voice tal\u00adents (Michael Iron\u00adside as Dark\u00adseid, Michael Dorn as Kalibak, and, last but not least, Adam West as a washed-up, stereo\u00adtyped actor, for exam\u00adple) under the direc\u00adtion of voice direc\u00adtor Andrea Romano. When they final\u00adly end\u00aded, the icon\u00adic char\u00adac\u00adter of the Bat\u00adman was returned to screen in a new series, \u201cBat\u00adman: the Brave and the Bold\u201d<\/a>. <\/em><\/p>\n

So how does it stand up?<\/p>\n

It stands up very well. The writ\u00ading is just as good and while I quib\u00adble about the ani\u00adma\u00adtion qual\u00adi\u00adty, it suf\u00adfices. But most of all, it stands up because of the change to the for\u00admat. Where\u00adas the orig\u00adi\u00adnal series were just about Bat\u00adman, \u201cB:TB&TB\u201d<\/em> takes after the orig\u00adi\u00adnal com\u00adic book, which is about the Bat team\u00ading up with a num\u00adber of oth\u00ader DC heroes, famous and not-so-famous. One episode can see him teamed with the Green Arrow (with whom he has a friend\u00adly rival\u00adry, large\u00adly from Green Arrow\u2019s point of view) and the next episode in the future team\u00ading up with Kaman\u00addi or in the past with the Demon Etri\u00adg\u00adan (and Sher\u00adlock Holmes.)<\/p>\n

But all in all, it is obvi\u00adous that the peo\u00adple involved are hav\u00ading fun<\/em> with the series. And I think noth\u00ading demon\u00adstrates this any bet\u00adter than the fol\u00adlow\u00ading song and dance rou\u00adtine by the Birds of Prey.<\/p>\n

Did any\u00adone catch the adult humor there? (Flash being too fast or Aqua\u00adman\u2019s \u201cfishie\u201d?) Or did any\u00adone notice the \u201cChar\u00adlie\u2019s Angels\u201d<\/em> trib\u00adute pose?<\/p>\n

And I have to say, the voice cast list is just as impres\u00adsive (as I would expect from Andrea Romano) as the pre\u00advi\u00adous incar\u00adna\u00adtions. I mean, David McCal\u00adlum as Mer\u00adlin the Wiz\u00adard, William Katt as Hawk\u00adman, Julie New\u00admar, Tim Con\u00adway, R Lee Ermey, Olivia d\u2019Abo, Mark Hamil (who is famous for play\u00ading the Jok\u00ader in the pre\u00advi\u00adous series but this time played the Spec\u00adtre), John Wes\u00adley Shipp (who starred in the unfor\u00adtu\u00adnate\u00adly too-quick\u00adly-end\u00aded series \u201cThe Flash\u201d<\/em> but here plays the Flash\u2019s arch-ene\u00admy Pro\u00adfes\u00adsor Zoom), Peter Wood\u00adward: I could go on and on but that should give just a taste of the tal\u00adent involved.<\/p>\n
